This past week we celebrated a holiday completely devoted to giving thanks. So, it was a beautiful coincidence that we held our Customer Appreciation Days on Friday and Saturday. And Friday was extra special because I was able to work at the store for a full day before packing it all up. The past year or so I have not been doing the day-t0-day operations of the market (thanks to having a great team to operate the store so I can focus on the behind the scenes work of running a business) and it was much needed closure to spend one last day behind the register at 107 S. 4th Street. It gave me the opportunity to re-connect with many of our loyal customers, and also establish relationships with others who have just started shopping at our market. Ultimately, that is the vision of Simply Nourished--forming relationships, building community and helping others by bringing wellness within reach in North Iowa.
Over the last three years we've heard so many powerful testimonies about lives changed indirectly or directly by our business. I am humbled every time I hear one. We've been able to be part of incredible weight loss journeys. We've been able to help individuals identify their food sensitivities and finally be able to find food they can enjoy again. We've been able to listen, to offer a comforting hug, to give affirmation, to answer questions, to share frustrations, to give hope. And that is what makes it all worth it. Something as simple as receiving an email on Sunday from a customer that said, 'The pies were delicious. Best GF pie, they even look like the before GF came into our lives.'' makes me smile from ear to ear.
I simply love getting to source and sell products that bring joy and healing to others and I am constantly researching to find new products and information that might fill needs here in North Iowa. And as someone who really really enjoys helping others, bringing wellness within reach is so personally rewarding for me. We also love getting feedback and suggestions from our customers. In fact, at the new location we will have a drop box for customer requests and questions to make connecting even more accessible. In addition to all the wonderful conversations, another highlight of the Customer Appreciation Days was watching as our customers signed up for a chance to win a $200 Gift Package. If you tossed your name in the basket and are still waiting on the edge of your seat, you'll have to wait just a little bit longer. In other news, we got the store moved. Saturday through today has been a complete whirlwind [my excuse as to why the blog is a day late], but pretty much everything is moved. All of the painting is finished as well, except for a little bit of trim. The plumbing in the new kitchen is being finished as I write this, and tomorrow we will receive our first delivery at the new location. I can hardly wait. In fact, I've been so excited and distracted that I forgot to call UNFI and tell them we moved. Oops. Thankfully we didn't move far, so I'm hoping they can just re-route in the morning. We need that delivery because we have so many yummy things planned for Christmas by the Lake this Saturday.
